Therapist

Health Equity and Recovery Technologies, LLC (HEART) is seeking a motivated and compassionate Part-Time Outpatient Clinical Therapist to provide individual and/or group therapy services to adults and adolescents. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, organized, and passionate about supporting clients through mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Job Title: Clinical Therapist (Part-time), W-2 position

Location: 51424 Van Dyke, Ste. 23, Shelby Township; 44511 Gratiot, Clinton Township; telehealth

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy services (15 completed sessions/week)

Facilitate IOP groups (SUD and Mental Health) as needed

Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation

Develop and update individualized treatment plans

Conduct assessments and ongoing evaluations

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members (psychiatric providers, case managers, etc.)

Maintain ethical and professional standards in accordance with licensing board

Clinical Focus Areas (preferred experience)

Substance use disorders (SUD)

Group therapy facilitation

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field

Active licensure in Michigan (LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, LLPC, or equivalent)

Experience providing psychotherapy (outpatient or IOP preferred)

Strong clinical documentation skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred (but not required)

Experience with substance use treatment or dual diagnosis

Group therapy facilitation experience

CADC or CAADC certification (If providing SUD services, must have certification or development plan in place)

Position Summary

Health Equity and Recovery Technologies (HEART) is seeking a compassionate, organized,

and recovery-oriented professional to serve in a dual-role position as a Licensed Peer

Recovery Coach and Hybrid Office Assistant. This role combines direct peer support

services with front-office administrative responsibilities to help ensure smooth daily operations

and high-quality client care.

The ideal candidate has lived experience in recovery, strong interpersonal skills, excellent

organizational abilities, and a passion for supporting individuals navigating substance use

and/or mental health recovery.

Core Responsibilities

Peer Recovery Coach Responsibilities

● Provide recovery support services to clients in individual and group settings

● Assist clients with developing recovery goals, coping skills, relapse prevention

strategies, and community supports

● Support client engagement, retention, and motivation in treatment

● Facilitate recovery-oriented conversations and wellness check-ins

● Help clients navigate resources including housing, employment, transportation,

healthcare, legal assistance, and community supports

● Model healthy recovery behaviors and maintain professional boundaries

● Assist with care coordination and communication between clients and clinical staff

● Document services and client interactions in the electronic health record in a timely

manner

● Support clients transitioning between levels of care

● Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings

● Assist with recovery-focused groups, psychoeducation, and community-building

activities

Office Assistant / Administrative Responsibilities

● Answer phones and assist potential clients with professionalism and empathy

● Complete intake phone screenings and route referrals appropriately

● Schedule appointments and assist with calendar coordination

● Send intake paperwork and portal documents through the EHR system

● Verify insurance benefits and assist with obtaining authorizations when needed

● Maintain accurate client records and administrative documentation

● Scan, upload, and organize documents within the EHR

● Support client check-in/check-out processes and collect copays when applicable

● Monitor office supplies and assist with maintaining a clean, welcoming office

environment

● Assist with attendance tracking, reports, spreadsheets, and administrative projects

● Communicate effectively with clinicians, case managers, referral sources, and external

agencies

Qualifications Required

● Current Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Coach credential (CPRC, CRPA, or

equivalent)

● High school diploma or GED

● Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health, recovery support, healthcare, or

administrative support

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills

● Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic health record systems

● Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

● Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Preferred

● Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, or

related field

● Experience working in substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment settings

● Experience with TherapyNotes or other EHR systems

● Knowledge of recovery community resources

● Experience with insurance verification or healthcare administration

Position Summary

The Case Manager is responsible for coordinating care and supporting clients receiving mental health and substance use disorder treatment services at Fifth Coast Recovery and HEART. The Case Manager serves as a liaison between clients, treatment providers, community resources, probation officers, courts, medical providers, and other support systems to promote treatment engagement, reduce barriers to care, and improve client outcomes.

The Case Manager works collaboratively with therapists, peer recovery coaches, and administrative staff to ensure clients receive comprehensive, person-centered care while supporting the mission of Health Equity and Recovery Technologies (HEART)/Fifth Coast Recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Care Coordination

● Coordinate services among treatment providers, community agencies, medical providers, courts, probation officers, and support systems.

● Facilitate referrals to community resources including housing, transportation, employment, education, food assistance, and healthcare services.

● Assist clients in navigating treatment recommendations and service requirements.

● Monitor completion of referrals and follow-up activities.

Client Engagement and Support

● Maintain regular contact with assigned clients.

● Assist clients in identifying barriers to treatment participation and recovery.

● Support treatment adherence, appointment attendance, and recovery goals.

● Provide encouragement and accountability while promoting client self-efficacy.

Recovery and Resource Planning

● Assist clients in developing individualized recovery support plans.

● Help clients identify strengths, needs, and goals.

● Connect clients to recovery support services, peer support, mutual aid groups, and community resources.

● Assist clients with applications for benefits and support programs when appropriate.

Communication and Collaboration

● Communicate regularly with therapists, peer recovery coaches, medical providers, probation officers, and referral sources.

● Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations.

● Provide updates regarding client progress and barriers to treatment.

Documentation and Compliance

● Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency, payer, licensing, and accreditation requirements.

● Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

● Ensure documentation supports continuity of care and treatment planning.

● Assist with administrative team to complete paperwork for clients.

Court and Probation Coordination

● Coordinate with probation officers and treatment courts.

● Obtain and submit required treatment updates and attendance reports.

● Ensure client compliance with court-ordered treatment requirements.

Crisis Response and Support

● Identify and report client safety concerns to appropriate clinical staff.

● Assist in implementing crisis plans when indicated.

● Support clients in accessing emergency resources as needed.

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor’'s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related field required.

● Experience working with behavioral health, substance use disorders, or community-based services preferred.

● Knowledge of community resources and referral systems.

● Strong organizational and communication skills.

● Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

● Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.

● Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) or willingness to obtain certification.

● Experience working with court-involved populations.

● Familiarity with ASAM Criteria and recovery-oriented systems of care.
